I have installed macpup 5.28 to my usb flash drive. Everything works great except my D-link DWA-130 usb adapter. I tried all the different modules but nothing. any ideas ? Thank you.
Can you post output of lsusb -vv
so we can see what wireless chip your usb uses.

http://www.enlightenment.org/ss/e-4f628b2a128dd8.17906717.jpg
Thanks to Agust again !!!
I will be posting the updates that are going into the new .ISO as .pet's if you want them without downloading the new .ISO. These updates are OPTIONAL so you if you are happy with mp528 as it is you don't need them.
The updates are released...

runtt21- I have a problem using my D-link DWA 130,
rokytnji requested i post the output of lsusb -vv
I have done some research and found that the device for my wireless is
ID 07D1:3300
would that be correct ? I cannot find the chipset for this unit. please any help is appreciated.
since lsusb -vv does not work in Macpup 528
try
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
instead. D-link used 2 different chipsets in those usb wifi sticks. I think one was Marvel and the other is Realtek if memory serves me right. It makes a difference what it uses as a wireless chip before further advice can be given.
Found this on google also for your id number also
http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids
also Running PupScan to get hardware IDs and drivers (it is in the Menu) will get needed info on your usb wifi stick also.
Told ya runtt21, I am having a hectic spring this year keeping up with stuff. Big Grin.

Shoot. They made 3 different wireless chips with that usb stick. Too bad if it aint atheros.
OK thank you for the information, I will do that tonight and see what I come up with. If I get it working I will post how, what I did. If not then I will post what I find. Thanks for the quick reply.
My dwa-130 is a rev E. so I am going to verify that tonight. I will keep you posted as to my findings.

I have not been able to get it to work as of yet, and since this is a desktop i can not easily get it connected to the internet with an ethernet cable, so i will have to download whatever driver i need to a usb stick and need some guidance on how to get it installed. Jason
I have got the DWA -130 working with ndiswrapper (windows driver), using the following download link----> realtek DWA-130 driver I used the Windows XP .inf driver copied to a usb drive.
I found the link in the LinuxMint forums. here
There is a link for Windows and Linux also but it is way over my head as how to compile a driver in Linux, I would prefer that but I need to learn more about doing it.
Now I had a problem at the first attempt to connect, upon starting the puppy setup/connect to internet again it worked fine. If I have a problem, like losing internet or anything I will post here. If all goes well I will mark solved after testing today.
Solved DWA-130
I have tested the driver fully and downloaded several pet packages, iso files etc... NO ISSUES !
Created a save file and rebooted and network adapter was there with driver. I had to enter the WPA2 password again, is there a way to auto-connect at boot ?
Thanks for your help rokytnji.
The .pet for Macpup kernel for your usb chip is on this page
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=462469#462469
Edit you posted while I was typing so disregard the .pet thread: On my beta test Macpup 528v2. I use wpa2 encryption on my wifi. I used Barrys simple network manager and selected wpa button and typed in/entered my key in the box. Connected OK. Hit reboot. Made my save file (virgin install). Wifi connected automatically on next boot.
If you used Dougals Network Manager instead. Use the save button when setting up your Network and profile. Then use the profile. Then run the auto dhcp button. Say yes to save when it says successful.
You should get a connection automatically on next boot with those steps in Dougal Network manager.
Thank You very much !
I have my network setting set up properly and it auto connects now. You have been a great help and I appreciate it a lot ! I am installing all my prefered .pets now, and using Macpup perfectly. E17 is taking some time to get used to, but I love it.
My system hardware is as follows-
Asus P5QL-pro
Intel E8400 socket 775 3 ghz core2duo
6gb DDR2 (3375 available)
AOC 22" 1920 x 1080
Nvidia GTX 260 896 mb pciexp 16 (using nvidia driver)
SB-Audigy 1 (SB0090)
Saitek Cyborg keyboard (usb)
SATA dvd/rw drive
Macpup running off 2gb USB memory stick
Main system booting- Win7 64bit, Netrunner Linux 4.1, Ultimate Edition Linux 2.9
Thank You again for your help. Jason
Nice Hardware. Mine is posted a few posts above with the inxi -z -F command which is a common thing I install on all my Linux installs. Glad you got things sorted also. Have fun with it.
Thanks, I am going to install inxi -z -F also, good to have. I have one problem so far, I used the quickpet, installed the blueheart theme and it is not in the Enlightenment themes menu, or any of the other things I installed in the desktop section. Is there something I am missing to do other than install them ?
quickpet doesn't have e17 themes. The stuff in the applications menus under desktop are only for the jwm side except for the gtk themes. You change themes in the e17 settings menu and there are two sets system and personal. Where did you get this blueheart theme?
OK I figured out the themes, not exactly straight forward, I got more themes from here, and I downloaded the .pet for blueheart theme, for the inside of the windows, which I assumed was an entire E17 theme. Its nice but it doesn't change the E17 desktop, so I got some that I liked. I got my desktop looking good, and it runs twice as fast as my other distros. I LOVE macpup ! Thanks for all your help with everything.
Be careful with some of the older themes. Because of changes with the development of e17 some of them don't have stuff or don't dont support some of the newer features.
ok i will. thanks again.
Hi, Ive been using puppy and macpup for sometime now and am blown away by such a small distro that can do so much.
Just installed macpup 528 to usb with the black 5 theme which I saw on a sneekylinux video and I just cannot think of anything I would change - after 6 months of distro hopping through pretty much everything this is my all time favourite linux distro, with Bodhi a close second.
Works beautifully on my Aspire One and Dell Latitude - no Broadcom issues as with the ubuntu crowd!
The raging Unity and Mint vs Ubuntu debate makes me chuckle- Puppy/Macpup is the place to be.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
A new review by InfinitelyGalactic :)
Im having trouble with flash player.....i installed it from your instructions ( Java And Flash ) java works ..but flash according to firefox about:plugins page it is installed ....but when i try to test it at adobes test page it says plugins need to be installed......tried it at youtube.com and it doesn't play the video are just black screen..
by the way I have used Foxy 3.0 for a while....I just love Macpup.
Great Job to all the guys who put hard work in this
Thank you
@legend
Me. I just download the tar.gz. I close Firefox. I extract it with pupzip and put it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder.
Restart Firefox. My about:plugins in Firefox show
<h2 class="plugname">Shockwave Flash
<dl><dd>File:
libflashplayer.so</dd><dd>Version:
</dd><dd>
Shockwave Flash 11.r102 </dd></dl>
Dont install the Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 because Flash Player 11.1.102.63 is OK and 11.2.202.228 doesn't work at all on Lupu, Slacko, Racy.
Browsers or their plugin containers (Firefox, SeaMonkey, QtWeb) crash with an Illegal instruction error.
Also that flashplayer 11.2.202.228 does not work with computers using AMD Athlon processor.
Anyways. For the initiated who would rather do just a .pet install
http://www.smokey01.com/Tman/apps/flashplayer-11.1.102.55.pet
@legend. If you did not install like I showed above on how I do it. Then either move it there or delete the libflashpayer.so you installed and use the pet I posted.
On a side note. In my Macpup 528v2 beta testing install. I don't have any flash installed at all in Firefox. I however belong to youtubes html5 test group and have html5 enabled at youtube. I can watch videos there with having flash installed.
Just some more info: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=70713&start=15
Check out Tmans post #8 in that thread. It's a cool tool also for using to get flash in JWM Desktop.
Legend , for ff 10 and newer read the last few post in this thread.
i went back and check everything over again and it fit to the T of what yall said to do......but i went ahead and did the .pet install like rokytnji said and it works.....but not at adobes test site..it says that I have firefox 12.
thanks guys
