If it runs fine from the disc ,I would suggest not doing a install. Reformat the HD but when you run the disc use a pup-save file and also copy the pup-412.sfs to the hd.Use the disc to boot the computer , you can take the disc out as soon as the Desktop loads. It worked perfectly when it was booted from CD, but when it boots from the hard drive it somehow can't start Xwindows properly, and never gets any farther than the X-shaped mouse pointer before dropping back to the command line. I've tried xorgwizard with different color depths, 16 and 24, and the "test" option _always_ works. However, when I then try to start Xwindows, it fails in the same way.</p> <p>Tried two fresh installs, reformatting the hard drive each time, and also copying over the /etc/X11 files to the hard drive, with no luck. </p>
