So the teacher has to have the option to approve or disapprove the student post and comments before it can go live (public). Therefore, it looks like to me that you have to have a private area of the blog for the class itself and a public area of the blog for a world wide audience. Regarding the privacy issue, when you mention a private admin blog, can you tell me who should have access to read it? Is it just the admin or any registered author of the blog site? It looks like the students and teachers will use Pritlog and like that it is simple, efficient and practical to use. The students so far like the text messaging feature and I took it a bit farther and added a blog to text message script that compliments what you did. I also put in a form based form to change the defaults color scheme to allow school color adaptation. Next week, hopefully, we are going to start adding each student's photo gallery to showcase their lab activity mastery. We all have decided it is a good way to build a blog resume that shows what they have mastered. I'm also going to ask them them to make posts on what they have learned and to collaborate with each other on the applications of that learning today and tomorrow. It's a way to get them to think forward and to take responsibility for what they are learning. The teachers were not as excited as the students initially, but that is not a surprise to me being a teacher myself. But, when they realized how easy it is to use Pritlog, they began to be less resistant and it looks like it will not be hard to get them to use it. Its just a matter of getting some teachers to use it regularly and the rest will follow. This will not be a problem, because I have some teachers who have agreed to us Pritlog. It's all about the time factor right now. Teachers are so pressed for time that they are automatically resistant to anything that they believe adds time to what they are already doing, but when it comes to things that are FREE, they all the sudden have a change of heart :) As a result of the testing so far, some of the things that came out that they thought would be good is a plugin that can make an admin's blog private and an author's blog private. This has to do with a federal law called FERPA, which has to do with privacy issues regarding students. Another plugin they thought would be nice is for each user to have a favicon (sp) image to represent them. As for me, my request is very simple. I have a script that automatically creates a subdomain for the user, but I need it to be like chill.schoolname.myedublog.com as opposed to Pritlog requiring username.myedublog.com. The reason I ask this is because I would like to personalize the url for the school, so I can maximize the number of schools using Pritlog. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Now coming to your questions: 1 - I will modify the script that I have and get this out to you in a couple of days. 2 - Yes, this code will go in pipe.php towards the end. Anyway, you can give the script that I will be sending. 3 - This can be in any directory. Just use the correct path in pipe.php and make sure it has right permissions. 4 - The permissions actually depend on how your server is configured. Usually, with hostmonster, I have rarely had to change permissions. The default worked fine for me. 5 - As far as I understood, you need to have an actual email id the same as the email forwarder you added. When you send the email, the email goes to the program and is available for the program so that it can parse the data from it and process it. 6 - The gallery plugin is posted earlier on this thread. Since we talked last time, I did sign up with hostmonster.com through your affiliate link and setup Prilog with no problems. The next thing I tried to do was setup the email forwarder in cPanel using the pipe instructions on your blog, but I was unable to figure it out. So far, I created an email forwarder <a href="mailto:chill@myedublog.com">chill@myedublog.com</a> with the pipe going to /home/maindomainusername/########/thenameoftheblogdirectory/pipe.php. This is the pipe path because thenameoftheblogdirectory is an addon domain for the main domain. And, as you know in cPanel, it is setup this way. I then took the code from your blog in step two and named it pipe.php and placed it in the root directory where Pritlog is installed. I also created a Pritlog account with the user name chill, so that is why I created the email forwarder as <a href="mailto:chill@myedublog.com">chill@myedublog.com</a>. As I understand it in cPanel you don't have to have an email account in cPanel setup for email forwarder to work. What did you mean when you said "feeder application"? 2 - You can disable options in the "advanced configuration" so that each author can edit/delete only their posts. Try this out and let me know if this does not work as you expected. 3 - Also, you could setup categories for each section and if you filter the posts by category (by clicking on the tags or category section) and then click on the RSS icon on the browser, it would give the RSS feed for this partular category. Currently Pritlog does not have import from external RSS feeds feature. I have gone through a lot of demos looking for the right one for the K-12 education environment. So far, what I believe is right for that environment is mostly available with your script. As a veteran teacher, blogging must be easy to use and practical for instruction and learning to take place for the students and the teachers. With that in mind, I was wondering if these features can be put into the blogging script. Video, audio (podcasting) and flash uploading and playing capability. Basically, the ability to embedded the code. I was able to do this through the HTML feature through nice edit, but the video and the audio don't show up in the browser's feeder application. Maybe it is the browser's feeder application causing the problem. Since this script can be used for each academic area, it would be nice to allow each author (students, parents, administrators, teachers, etc.) to be able to edit and delete their own posts as opposed to being currently able to edit and delete any post. And, even if they are not allowed to do this through admin, it doesn't make any since because there are times when that post needs to be deleted or edited. I did notice that someone created a MU version of Pritlog using subdomain names, but in the educational enviroment, it is more practical through the author feature. Another feature that would be useful would be for each author is to be able to select which particular group they belong to (math, science, english, etc.) and to have their own rss feed, so each student could select a particular teacher's rss feed to aggregate that they are currently attending classes for. Another feature I think that would be very useful in education is the ability to import other rss feeds from other learning web sites because it would broaden the teachers learning material and thus, broaden the students learning breadth and depth.
